How Are The Fluke 87V And 83V Multimeters
Alike?
Keeping track of the different Fluke multimeters can be quite a chore. It might be easy to
think that the Fluke 87V and the 83V are completely different models - and indeed they are. However, they are both
part of the 80 series and have more similarities than you might expect.
Even though the prices between the two differ (with the 87V being the more expensive
of the two), they are both able to measure up to 1000 V AC and DC. They both also include a feature which allows
you to run a resistance, continuity and diode test. Both models also use an extra large ultra bright digital
display with a built-in backlight so you can use the meters in very dim environments.
While there are a number of similarities between the two modes, just remember that overall
the 87V is a superior multimeter. It gives you great DC accuracy at ±0.05% and includes an attached thermometer
probe to take temperature readings quickly and easily.
