Differences Between The Fluke
87V And The Fluke 83V
Fluke is well known in the electrical industry for producing the
highest quality multimeters around. However, they produce so many different models - such as the Fluke
87V and Fluke 83V - that it can be hard to keep all of them straight. To help you out, this brief
article points out a few differences between these two models of multimeters.
First of all, the Fluke 87V is a true RMS device while the Fluke 83V model is
not. The 87V is able to deliver true RMS AC voltage and current for accurate measurements on non linear
signals, which is a big time saver when you are taking measurements. Unlike the 83V, the 87V delivers ±
0.05 % DC accuracy.
In addition to the accurate measurements the 87V is able to perform, it also includes
a built-in thermometer probe to quickly take accurate temperature measurements whenever you need
them. Perhaps you don't take temperature measurements very often, but when you need to, the
capability is there. This saves space in your tool box and allows you to carry one less tool wherever
you go.
